Thinking. I am a big day dreamer and it can be a good thing if you get over the time-wasting bit of it. The other downside is that overthinking is a two-sided coin and I indulge in both sides almost equally. As much as I day dream so many good things, I have also found myself lost in a negative rabbit hole of my own making. I replay upsetting conversations in my head, over and over again. I spend too much time thinking up worst case scenarios, and consequently, giving myself a (sometimes) crippling fear that stops me from taking action.
Now, that I’ve let go of the bad parts, let’s talk about happy things that I lose myself in. Reading. I love reading books, Especially fiction. I like fantasy books with unreal worlds and I love getting lost in those worlds. Any reader will tell you they get that feeling of needing to be some place else whenever they take a break from reading a consuming book. I haven’t ever gotten so lost in a book that I forgot to eat though, haha. I love food.
I also occasionally get lost in watching TV. I used to doom scroll shorts on my phone but I have deleted most of my social media accounts and have been social media free for about 2-3 years now. Can’t say I miss it. One less thing to get lost in.
When I talk to my friends, I can get lost in the gist. Does that qualify? Time flies by and we never want it to end, so maybe yes.
Cheers to the good things in life that help us escape a sometimes dreary world.
Bye,
Chioma.
