Oh technology! It has made my life easier in so many ways. So many ways! One of my current jobs involves managing the administrative aspects of a city agency. So, with all the managing, correspondence, and scheduling that it involves, you can imagine that I am very pleased to not have to do all of this manually and by hand.
Since the explosion of AI, there has been more ease for people like me with writing-heavy jobs. And it’s not just us, the tech bros and coders of all sort, designers and other people who may use AI to aid their creative process. It is a great tool. I still judge all of you using AI to complete writing tasks, with little or no input from your brain but it is what it is. I’m judging, but I’m not mad at it. Okay, I’m a little mad.
Whenever people talk about technology and jobs in the same sentence, my mind always goes to robots, and the fear mongering that has been going on for years. Oh no! The Robots are taking over! And of course, all the sci-fi movies of robots actually taking over (Subservience comes to mind from very recent history) do not help matters for those who buy into all the stories. I do not subscribe though, I am a firm believer in humanity. People will always be needed. And it’s not robots that will end us.
Back to the topic, other than the ease, my job hasn’t changed much. I still need to rely heavily on my people skills. Good luck to technology trying to figure that one out. I am thankful for that ease though! Very grateful because, omo, life is hard.
