My Dada was the greatest ever liveth!

Daily writing prompt
Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

Oh, I’ve had a string of them. I just want to start by saying that from nursery school, I have been blessed with some of the most terrific teachers in the world! From teachers in school, to my teachers in church, amazing people all around. Till this day, my sisters and I still talk about some of our teachers and reminisce about some of our experiences. I’m not exaggerating, they were really amazing.

But for this prompt, allow me to call out my dad! The guy was good. My dad passed away last year. It was terrible. I still feel terrible. I was listening to Leona Lewis’ Yesterday this morning, a song that always reminds me of my dad and I still broke down in tears. The pain? I don’t know when and if it will go away. But that’s not why we are here so let us move on!

My dad was probably my most influential teacher because he was a teacher in several areas. At home, with my school work, in church. My dad was the best bible study teacher I knew! He is the reason I still love bible study so much till this day. He was a good teacher of the Word and it was one thing I loved about him.

My dad influenced my values. Many things about me today can be traced to the man, from the more serious things to the mundane things, like one of my best sleeping positions – on my back, one leg flat and one raised. If you can’t picture this, don’t worry, I know I’m not doing a good job explaining it. Point is, his influence can be seen in almost every area of my life.

I’m grateful that I had such a great father figure. I am really blessed to have lived life as my father’s daughter. It’s a privilege that I do not take for granted.

Okay bye.

  1. This is such a heartfelt and beautifully written tribute, Chioma. The way you describe your dad’s influence his teaching, his values, and even the small but intimate details like your sleeping position shows just how deeply he shaped your life. The love and admiration you have for him shine through every word.

Losing someone that significant is incredibly painful, and grief doesn’t follow a timeline. The fact that you can honor him like this, keeping his teachings and legacy alive, is a testament to the love you both shared. It’s truly touching.

And I have to say, the warmth with which you speak about all your teachers, from school to church, shows just how much you value the people who pour into your life. That’s a beautiful quality.

Sending you strength as you continue to navigate your loss. Your dad would be proud of you. ❤️
